The Pantone Fashion Color Report for Spring 2014 is in and you’re in luck pastel-lovers. From pale violet to lovely dusty blue, this spring offers a mix of nail colors that’s sure to complement any floral springtime outfit. In addition to pastels, sassy pops of color are also in. For the vibrant and lively color aficionados, myself included, your favorites made the cut!
The list below is not the entire Pantone spring color report (which you can find here), but it is reflective of the colors you’re likely to see most of this spring and summer.
Radiant Orchid
This bold yet feminine nail color stems (no pun intended) from one of the world’s most beautiful flowers, the orchid. A mix of electric purple and royal fuchsia, this trend can make the everyday girl full of exotic confidence. And, since this is the 2014 Pantone Color of the Year, you’ll be able to find this fresh hue stocked on the shelves of any beauty store. Try pairing this vibrant hue with pastel accessories for a striking contrast!
Placid Powder Blue
This soft baby blue is anything but childish. Its icy tone lends to a sophisticated flair and goes great with the many spring outfits, especially floral patterns. Not only is this color a spring nail trend, but also a fashion trend, which makes it easy to achieve monochromatic looks from head to toe. Play with painted white nail art for a 1960’s Mod vibe and enjoy the fact that this color goes well with any skin tone!
Cayenne Coral
This playful red-orange color goes great with summer sun-kissed skin. Because this is such a vibrant color, a shorter, rounded nail is ideal to avoid looking overly flashy. For beauties on a budget, this spicy spring color easily transitions from spring into summer––saving you a few dollars that might’ve been spent on a new summer nail color. Pair this cheerful coral with bright turquoise or pale pink accessories or try adding a hint of gold glitter at your nail’s tip to spice up this trend even more!
Hemlock Green
This pastel green hue is sweet and subtle, similar to this color trend’s name inspiration––the charming poisonous plant, Hemlock. This color is familiar to mint green lovers, another long-lasting color trend that has carried over into 2014. Try pairing this minty green with white or neutral pieces for a soft, comforting look.
Violet Tulip
This particular shade of purple is lovely and feminine but also electric in every way. In the western world, violet is often associated with words such as extravagant and unconventional. Pair violet with other royal colors for a sophisticated spring look. For another cool color combination, be inspired by springtime flowers and let this pop of color be the perfect accent to white or yellow outfits.
